The Feldenkrais Method® The Feldenkrais Method is a form of education that uses movement and directed attention to improve functioning. The Method helps people develop ways to use themselves more efficiently, effectively, and enjoyably. By learning to sense, feel, and pay attention to ourselves, we can reduce unwanted habits, compensations, and patterns that show up in the way we move, think and act. The Feldenkrais Method continues the education that began for every individual as an infant by challenging the brain to learn. “You can’t do what you want until you know what you are doing.” The Method is taught two ways:
In Functional Integration, private sessions, the focus is on the client’s specific goals. Using gentle touch, movement, words, and directed attention, the Feldenkrais practitioner guides you through a lesson designed to meet your personal needs. Lessons are taught on a low, firm table with the client fully clothed. Sessions normally last about one hour. |
